Lee was playing softball at the church when a lightning bolt hit. Shewas knocked unconscious and fell to the ground. Witnesses say that her heartbeat stopped, and that's when two people began CPR. Medics arrivedminutes later and revived the girl.
Six others received minor injuries. Those people were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
Lee had been volunteering this summer at the Veterans Affairs MedicalCenter in Fayetteville. She would have been a sophomore at Pine ForestHigh School this fall.
Memorial services are scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at Cedar FallsBaptist Church, where Lee was a member of a youth group.
