Retired Police Officer Says He Didn't Kill Prostitute

DURHAM — A retired Durham police officer says he didnot kill a prostitute. Broadus Crabtree proclaimed his innocence Tuesdayin a Durham courtroom.

Crabtree is charged with beating a woman to death in January. Investigators say they're looking at the possibility he may be linked toother unsolved murders.

Crabtree spent 16-years on the Durham police force before retiringthree years ago for medical reasons.
