Posted May 20, 1997

— A state prison escapee is going back behind bars for up to 23 more years.

William Rodney Bass pleaded guilty Monday to attacking a Christian radio announcer. Prosecutors say Bass and another inmate escaped last year and assaulted Reverend Anthony Brock. Both his arms were broken.

Bass pleaded guilty as part of plea agreement. Jury selection for the other inmate, Anthony Pinchbeck, begins Tuesday.
