print friendly

Police in Fayetteville are looking for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred Sunday night. They say 45-year-old Daniel Lewis was walking in a residential area south of Fayetteville when he was struck by a passing car.

Lewis died instantly. The suspect sped away before anyone got a good look at the car or driver. Investigators say they don't have many leads in the case.

Another pedestrian died in a separate hit-and-run in Goldsboro. Police there say 43-year-old Douglas Edward Artis was walking in front of Wayne Memorial Hospital Sunday night when a car driven by Jesse Fields struck him.

Artis died instantly. Police are still investigating and have not yet filed any charges.
