DURHAM — The sentencing phase of Todd Boggess' trial continues Monday as the convicted killer of a Wilmington teen waits to find out if he will die or spend his life in prison.
The defense completed its pre-sentencing presentation just before noon Monday. Attorneys for Boggess presented testimony from psychology experts to show that Boggess should not be put to death. Boggess' father testified last week that he had sexually abused his son hundreds of times over several years.
The prosecution had opportunity to offer a rebuttal in the early afternoon. Officials are not certain if the jury will begin its sentencing deliberations Monday.
Daniel Pence, 17, was killed in a rural area of Durham County in 1995.
