<b>CARY</b> — The McDonald's restaurant on Kildaire Farm Roadin Cary was surrounded by FBI, Cary police and bomb squad vehicles justafter noon Thursday. Someone had found a device inside that appeared to bea bomb.

Authorities determined that the device wasnotan explosivedevice, but said it appeared to have been deliberately designed to looklike one. The device consisted of several pieces of pipe, some wires and aticking clock. It was planted in the men's restroom.

There was no call alerting anyone to the presence of the device.

"There's no threat. There's no firearm," Deputy Chief Rico Boyce said at the press conference. "A student made the principal aware that there's someone on campus with a firearm."
