DURHAM — Durham police are trying to figure out who shot a man to death there Sunday night, and why. The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Berkeley and Knox Streets.
Police say the man was shot in the chest with a high-caliber handgun. They have not released his identity.
Some witnesses say the many may have been the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Meanwhile, another Durham death is being called suspicious. Officers found the body of a woman Sunday at the Budget Inn motel on Holloway Street. Police have been unable to identify the body or determine the cause of death.
They say they do believe foul play may have been a factor.
