ROANOKE RAPIDS — A teenager who led a Division of Motor Vehicles officer on a high-speed chase last month in Northampton County was, according to police, part of a crime duo.
Melanie Mosely, 19, died instantly last month after slamming a stolen car into a tree. The DMV officer who pursued her said he attained a speed of 130 mph at times and that Mosely was pulling away from him even then.
Now, police say they believe Mosely and Alexander Harris were robbing homes in Pitt County just before the accident.
Harris is now being held in the Wilson County jail for his alleged part in those crimes.
