RALEIGH — A man was murdered at the Fairfield Inn on Capital Boulevard late Tuesday night.
Police say a guest heard gunshots, looked outside his room and saw shot to death near the stairs.
Business owners in the area say the violent crime is not a surprise.
Local business owner Walt Gibson commented that it hadn't always been this way.
Gibson said, "I know there's been a lot of break-ins. The guy next door has bars on his windows. It's not the neighborhood it used to be."
Business owners say they still feel the neighborhood is safe, but they admit they have taken security measures to protect their stores and their customers.
