Racial Charges Hurled at Fayetteville Police Department

FAYETTEVILLE — The NAACP is taking aim at the Fayetteville Police Department, saying it has a racially hostile work environment.
Monday night, the Association took its accusations to city council, calling for an investigation into charges of racism. Local NAACP leaders had first met privately with the city manager and police chief, but were not satisfied with the results of those meetings.
The city manager says he is not against an investigation if the council finds there is a need for one. Council members expressed concerns about the allegations, they did not take any formal action.
