All of the Triangle chapters and the Fayetteville chapter of theSalvation Army are low on volunteers. In Raleigh, there are only enoughpeople signed up to cover half the red kettle sites. In Durham, there areeven fewer than that prepared to rattle the brass bell to remind shoppersto toss coins or bills into the kettle to help others.
Various shifts are available, with many of them only lasting an hour orso. Because they are dotted all over town, it may be easy to find onenear your home or office.
Bellringers need only dress warmly and be prepared to say "Thank you"or "Merry Christmas."
