DURHAM — The murder rate is now up to 42 in Durham,the highest yet in the City of Medicine.
The body of 19-year-old Cedric Alston was found in the back yard of aduplex Saturday night. Police say he was shot several times, but would notcomment on a possible motive.Alston was awaiting trial on charges stemming from a crime in June at aDurham home. Five armed men barged into the house sexually assaultingand beating six residents.
