Search Continues for Raleigh Carjackers

RALEIGH — Raleigh police are continuing their huntfor a team of carjackers whom they believe have struck three times sincelate last week.

Investigators say three suspects are responsible for the North Raleighattacks. The three carjackings occurred in the vicinity of the Lynn andRay Road intersection. The latest happened Sunday morning.

Police say one suspect confronts victims at gunpoint after followingthem home, and is then joined by a second suspect. The third then followsin another car.

Raleigh Police Lt. Allen Inman says the carjackers are targetinglate-model luxury cars, but that all drivers need to be aware of theirsurroundings at all times.

Inman adds that if, despite all precautions, you find yourselfface-to-face with a gun, give up the car.

They say they have several leads, but are sorting through them todetermine which are most credible. They have released descriptions of twoof the suspects. Both are black males, one about 5-feet-6 and 160pounds, the other 5-feet-10 and 160 pounds. Both were wearing darkclothing when last seen.

Two of the stolen cars have been recovered from a Durham housingcomplex, but the suspects have not been located.
