ROCKY MOUNT — A Nash County store owner reportedlyused his own gun to fight back against crime.
Police say Claud Battle (pictured, left) shot and killed a man whom hesays tried to robhis store on Highway 43.
A woman who knows Battle says his friends are shocked at the news.

Investigators say Roger T. Forrest of Nashville never pulled a weapon,but thatBattle feared for his life when the man demanded money. The districtattorney now has to decide if Battle will be charged with a crime.
