Chapel Hill School Board Reaches Make-Up Day Consensus

CHAPEL HILL — It took the Chapel Hill-Carrboro schoolboard four weeks to decide when teachers and students will have to make-upthree days missed after Hurricane Fran.

Thursday night, the board selected Friday, October 25, Tuesday, January21 and Monday, May 26. With those dates, the board saved teachers andstudents from having to attend on the day before Thanksgiving, which isscheduled as a student-free workday. It also spared them from having toattend with throngs of voters on Election Day.

The board heard arguments and suggestions from teachers and parents whodidn't want to see workdays and potential family vacation time disrupted.
