Blue In, Burr Out Of Race For U.S. Senate Seat

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Two of North Carolina's lawmakers have made decisions about their political futures.

The North Carolina Senate race is getting thinner on the Republican side. After previously saying that he would run, Congressman Richard Burr of Winston-Salem has decided not to run for the Republican seat after Jesse Helms retires.

On the flip side, former Speaker of the state House and current Rep. Dan Blue is officially in the race. He joins Elaine Marshall as the only other Democrat who is officially running.
