Orange County Farm Has A-Maze-Ing Surprise For Visitors

Posted Updated

ORANGE COUNTY — From the air, it may look like aliens are pulling pranks on a farm in Orange County.

Though it may look like crop circles from above, it is a corn maze.

David and Vickie McKee have been farming for many years, but this is the first year they are opening their farm to visitors.

"If you want to get out, halfway through there is an emergency exit and actually there is water located at that area. If you want to continue, you can go back in, and the second half of the maze is complex," Vickie McKee said.

There is an easier path for children that includes educational challenges.

The McKee family farm is 10 miles northeast of Hillsborough. Take 86 to Highway 57 North, and then take a right on Kiger Road. The farm is about 1.5 miles on the right.

The farm is open Fridays from 2-8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays from 2-8 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Children under 3 are free.

School groups are welcome and can pre-register by calling (919) 732-8065.
