Neighborhood On Edge After Two Found Dead In Fayetteville House

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are having trouble tracking down the next of kin in a death investigation.

Until they do that, they won't release the victims' names.

Officers found two women dead inside this home in the Village at Lakewood subdivision on Saturday. They said they believe they women are related. On Monday, neighbors drove by the house and stared.

"It is very scary because you don't know what happened," said Patricia Williams.

Other neighbors walked over. They rang the doorbell and choked back tears.

Police said they found two women dead inside. They said one was a teenager and they were related to each other.

"It's scary because you don't know, you don't know really who did it and reasons -- for what? " said Brooke Swiderski.

Even movers, just stopping by for a few hours, talked about the case.

"You know, glad it wasn't me. Sorry for the people who it happened to." said Mike Johnson said.

The man moving into the house wasn't in town yet. His friend, Kevin Schoonmaker, didn't want to be the one to tell him what happened just a few doors down.

"It's a really small community and you don't expect something like that to happen here," Schoonmaker said.

Police aren't talking about suspects or motives at this point.

However, they are still looking for the black 2004 Mercedes Benz.

Neighbors describe it as the family car and it's been missing since before police arrived on the scene.
