SELMA, N.C. — Johnston County authorities are investigating a stabbing death that may have resulted from a fight over a woman.

Investigators believe Mustafaa Jihad Dublin, 19, stabbed Hopeton Davis, 19, with a pocketknife shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday near a residence located at

698 Thorne Road

in Selma. Davis later died in surgery, authorities said.

Investigators said Duplin arrived at the house on Thorne Road, slashed a third man's tires, then kicked in a door and got into an altercation with Davis over the victim's sister, whom Dublin used to date.

Dublin, who turned himself in to authorities Sunday evening, faces first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and murder charges. He is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
