RALEIGH, N.C. — The YWCA property and building on Oberlin Road in Raleigh is up for sale.
The board of directors made the announcement that it will sell the property after a meeting Wednesday. The building and 3.5 acres of land have a tax value of nearly $4.5 million, according to the Wake County tax office.
The YWCA programming and services that are currently being delivered at the Oberlin Road facility will be discontinued by Sept. 1, the group said. Many services will continue to be offered at the YWCA's location at 554 E. Hargett Street and throughout the community.
The location at 1012 Oberlin Road is a 50,000 square-foot mixed-use recreational facility that includes offices, meeting rooms, residential rooms, a swimming pool, gymnasium, locker rooms, restaurant facility, commercial kitchen and a children's playground.
The YWCA's board said that it plans an expansion of vital services which will be made possible by the sale of the property. The group said that additional programming is being added at the Hargett Street location, including women's wellness services, fiscal and physical fitness activities for young women, after school academic enrichment programming, and comprehensive case management for women undergoing life transitions.
