RALEIGH — The V Foundation for Cancer Research scored a hole in one with the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic. Now, the foundation plans to hold yet another event in the Triangle.
Friday, ESPN and the V Foundation announced that they are adding another basketball event to their fundraising plans. The inaugural Jimmy V Women's Basketball Classic will take place November 24, 2002, in Raleigh.
The two-game event will feature Duke against Tennessee and N.C. State against Connecticut.
This is a big weekend for the Jimmy V Foundation.
Friday night is the V-Jam concert at the Civic Center in Raleigh. Hootie and The Blowfish and Edwin McCain will be performing. Then the annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, which always attracts celebrities, takes place on Sunday.
Proceeds from both events go to the V Foundation, which raises money for cancer research.
