Site SearchRALEIGH, N.C. — A teacher charged with having sex with a student on a field trip made her first court appearance Tuesday in Wake County.
Janet Klatt, 44, is out of jail on bond. She was a history teacher at Cannon School in Concord, a private school near Charlotte.
Police said Klatt and a 16-year-old male student had sex during an overnight trip to Raleigh.
Klatt has hired an attorney in Charlotte and said she will be strong during the difficult months ahead of her.
Administrators at the Cannon School said she no longer works there.
