Driver Crashes Car On Outer Beltline After Being Shot

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said a driver plunged into a ravine on the Interstate 440 Outer Beltline after someone shot him early Friday evening.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 7 p.m. between New Bern Avenue and Brentwood Road. After the shooting, the vehicle, driven by Tyrone Devon Utley, struck the guardrail and went airborne.

When police arrived at the scene, they noticed Utley had been shot in the upper body. He told police someone fired at him from another car.

Utley was taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in fair condition on Sunday morning.
