Raleigh City Worker Saves Woman From Burning House

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A house on fire was the scene of a heroic rescue on Tuesday.

A house on Alamo Court in north Raleigh was on fire when city recycling employee Robert Arrington made his rounds. A woman inside asked for Arrington's help to rescue a second woman sleeping in an upstairs bedroom.

Smoke and flames kept Arrington from going inside, so he used his recycling truck to reach the window.

"The first thing that crossed my mind was to back that recycling truck up to the window, climb on top of it and get her out," he said.

The woman who was rescued and others who lived in the home wished to remain anonymous. But according to Arrington, the woman he saved was in good condition.
