Future Of Hillsborough Development In Question

Posted Updated

HILLSBOROUGH — The future of a major development project in Hillsborough is still up in the air.

At the last minute Tuesday night, a commissioner asked the board to withdraw the vote on Hampton Pointe.

The proposed project would sit on 58 acres near the intersection of Interstate 85 and NC 86.

It would have two large freestanding retailers and several other smaller stores.

Developers reduced the size of the project by 15 percent so it would be a little more than 400,000 square feet.

Many on the board were still concerned about the size. No date has been set for when they will vote again.
