DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are trying to piece together the puzzle surrounding a shooting death early Tuesday morning.

According to police, Pedro Pablo Josue Gasperin Quijano, 44, and a female companion were driving home from work when someone signaled them to pull over on Fairfax Drive. When they did, a female approached the driver's side of the victim's car while a male armed with a shotgun approached the passenger door, according to investigators. The male allegedly fired a round from the shotgun through the passenger window, striking Quijano.

The woman drove to a convenience store on Miami Boulevard, where she called 911. Quijano later died at Duke University Hospital. Investigators have no motive in the case.
