Durham Restaurant Closed After Kitchen Fire

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham restaurant will be closed for several days after a fire ripped through it early Sunday morning.

Investigators say an electrical fire damaged the Ruby Tuesdays on 210 N.C. Highway 54.

Employees put out an initial fire behind a refrigeration system, but it re-ignited and got into the walls.

Crews had to use saws to cut through a lot of building material, including sheet metal and insulation to put out the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire. It was not immediately known when the restaurant would reopen.
