Durham Mother Pleads Guilty To Felony Child Abuse

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham mother pled guilty Thursday to felony child abuse charges stemming from her young son's loss of a leg.

Doctors amputated Tanekeia Justice's 4-year-old son's leg because he lost circulation in it from being tied up for several hours, according to Durham police.

U.S. Marshals arrested Justice earlier this month after she had been on the run for more than a year. Police said she fled after posting bond on her initial arrest.

A Durham County Superior Court judge sentenced her to a minimum of just under six years in prison.
