CARY — The town of Cary has cleared a one-acre lot on Hunter Street, near downtown, and is about to build four houses for moderate-income, first-time buyers.
Two dilapidated houses used to sit on the lot until the town demolished them and began looking for a better way to use the land.
The four houses will cost about $120,000 apiece, though Cary is providing $20,000 per house in second-mortgage money.
Construction should begin in just a couple of weeks.
