RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a woman in connection with a fatal shooting near

Pullen Park

Friday evening.

Police said that at about 7 p.m., Earl Thierry Brown, 42, of Knightdale, was shot once in the left side of his chest in a parking area near the park. He was taken to WakeMed, where he later died.

Camellia Boyd Norton Brown, 47, was taken into custody and later charged with one count of murder in connection with the death.

The shooting appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute, police said. The suspect and victim had been married, but their current marital status was not immediately known.

Police also confirmed that two children -- a 6-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl -- were at the scene at the time of the shooting, but police could not say if the children saw the shooting.

Authorities have not commented on the children's relationship to the suspect and the victim, only that it was a family relationship.
