<b>NEW YORK, NY</b> — An East Carolina University student and former beauty pageant contestant appeared on a Friday morning TV show.

Monica Palumbo was the fill-in co-host on, "LIVE with Regis and Kelly." Kelly is out on maternity leave.

Monica, a junior from Charlotte studying musical theater, joked with Regis about her appearance in the Miss USA pageant and about a blind date she had in New York last night.

At the end of the show, Regis thanked Monica for filling in and said she had done a good job.

Police say a woman was shot in the upper thigh while two men inside the home were arguing. EMS stabilized the woman and took her to ECU Health in Greenville. Both men suffered gunshot wounds during the altercation.
