DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.
Investigators arrested Jensen Fitzgerald Paylor, 21, of North Guthrie Avenue, Saturday evening and charged him with murder in connection to the death of James Frederick White, Jr., 39, of Chestnut Street.
Officers were called to 108 North Blacknall St. at about 6 a.m. Saturday to investigate after a red Dodge Intrepid had run off the road, struck a trailer and ended up in a yard.
When officers arrived, they discovered White's body inside. Police said that he had been shot.
Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred between 4 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. Saturday.
According to investigators, Paylor and White were acquaintences, and robbery is believed to be the motive behind the shooting.
