FAYETTEVILLE — A commuter plane with 42 people on board made an unscheduled landing soon after taking off from

Fayetteville Regional Airport

Tuesday morning.

Fayetteville police say the landing indicator light on US Airways Express Flight 3207came on shortly after taking off at 10:45 a.m.

Police say the pilot turned the plane around because its landing gear did not retract. After touching down to make sure the landing gear was working properly, the pilot landed the plane.

Thirty-nine passengers and three crew members were on the plane bound for Charlotte-Douglas International.

The passengers were put on another plane soon after the incident.
