Teens To Serve Jail Time For Setting 1999 School Fire

FAYETTEVILLE — Two Cumberland County teenagers are headed to prison for setting fire to their school.

Paul Payne, 18, and Michael Furmage, 18, have been sentenced to serve between two and three years in jail for setting fire to Cape Fear High School in November 1999.

The fire caused more than $700,000 in damage.

Payne and Furmage have also been ordered to undergo substance abuse and psychological counseling.
