One confirmed trauma. One confirmed fatality.

And the night is young...this may be a long evening.

And yet another one. Just heard on the scanners a call about an accident on Lake Wheeler and Penny Rd. Apparently a car left the roadway and plunged into the water, upside down and is on fire. The driver is out, but the passenger is trapped. Fire just arrived on scene.

Well, it could be a truck driver that is overloaded, been on the road too long or operating a rig with improper equipment. On the other hand, it could be a commuter who typically weaves in and out of traffic, rides in the truckers' blindspots or pulls in front of a big rig a couple of hundred feet from a redlight, expecting it to stop as quickly as their car. Of course, it could just be a driver's error.

Why is it, seems like, almost every time you read about an accident, there's a tractor trailer involved? Could it be a speed issue?

It's a road off hgwy 70 (55mph) between Garner and the Walmart on 70. To my thinking it's not a lighted intersection because that one is Guy road. It seems like another of those driving too fast and people not able to stop while tailgating. This road is pitiful. I have to avoid it on Fridays when the beach opens up. That is why I'll be glad when they finish putting the I40 extension bypassing Clayton. It's like bumper to bumper and everyone speeding and tailgating. You have to live here to get the picture.

There have been so many accidents in the past few weeks! I hope all involved are alright. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that people on NC roads have been driving extremely agressively as of late? I wonder if it's because the holiday is almost upon us and some people are in a hurry to be out of work and out of town.

I think it's the intersection right before the Johnston/Wake County line on the right side of the road. Praying for the injured and their families.
