Fayetteville Man Sent To Death Row For Girlfriend's Murder

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville man has been sent to death row for the murder of his girlfriend.

Jurors had two choices: life in prison or the death penalty in the case against George Carroll. They opted for the death sentence.

Last week, the same jury found Carroll guilty of killing his girlfriend, Debra Whitted, in November 1999. Prosecutors say Carroll stabbed Whitted and torched her trailer.
