CARY — One person is dead after a shooting at a Cary apartment complex early Monday morning.
Cary police are looking for Oscar Espinosa Perez, 29, of Cary. They want to question him about his role in the shooting that took place around 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Cardinal Woods Apartments on Wrenn Drive.
Shortly after midnight, Cary police were called out to break up a noisy party that had moved outdoors at 207 Wrenn Drive. Police were called back to the scene around 1:30 a.m. to handle reports of fighting.
By the time police arrived, gunshots had been fired, and they found a 19-year-old Hispanic male wounded in a 1991 Dodge Shadow. The man died on the way to the hospital.
After the gun went off, several people went inside an apartment, holding police at bay until just before 5 a.m. That is when police moved in, taking several people into custody.
Investigators are interviewing about 30 people who were at the scene. They say preliminary information suggests that the victim may have been shot while trying to intervene in a domestic dispute involving Perez.
Perez is 5'7" and weighs about 155 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. His last known addresses is 211 Wrenn Drive. Police believe that Perez is still in the area and warn that he may be armed and dangerous.
