DURHAM — A controversial Durham principal is fighting to keep his job tonight at Hillside High.
The superintendent wanted to transfer Richard Hicks to another job after this school year, but Hicks is asking the school system to buy out his contract or let him keep his top spot at Hillside.
Hicks was cleared after a grade-changing investigation, but school officials want to remove him because of high absentee rates.
