Poll: Easley Maintains Lead Over Vinroot in N.C. Governor's Race

RALEIGH — Democrat Mike Easley continues his solid lead over his Republican opponent in the race for governor.

The latest Mason-Dixon poll conducted for WRAL-TV shows Easley maintaining a 10 percent lead over Richard Vinroot. Libertarian Barbara Howe picked up 1 percent of the vote in this poll; 15 percent of respondents remain undecided.

The only section of the state favoring Vinroot is the west, where the former Charlotte mayor has a 3 percent advantage. In Charlotte, his lead is larger. Governor Vote
