CP&L Listens to Residents About Nuclear Waste Plans

CHAPEL HILL — The people will get a chance to speak and learn aboutCP&L'scontroversial plan to store more nuclear waste in the Triangle.

The power company wants to double its nuclear waste storage site at the Shearon Harris plant. Several local governments oppose the plan.

An expert on nuclear accidents will hold a meeting Wednesday night at 7:30 in the Chapel Hill Town Hall.

The meeting is a precursor to Thursday's hearing involving theNuclear Regulatory Commissionat the McKimmon Center, located on theNCSU campusin Raleigh. That meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
