Poll Shows Easley Most Recognized, Frontrunner Among Candidates for Governor

Among registered Democratic voters, 54 percent would vote for Mike Easley if the election was held today. Dennis Wicker is a distant second.

On the Republican side, the poll shows Richard Vinroot has a comfortable advantage over Leo Daughtry.

If Easley and Vinroot squared off, Easley would win easily.

The telephone poll was conducted with 633 registered voters February 26 - 28, 2000.

The margin of error on the Democratic sample is plus or minus 5 percent and on the Republican sample it is plus or minus 6 percent.
