Local Businesses Are Having Trouble Finding Holiday Help

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — There may be a downside to the Triangle's booming economy. Local businesses cannot find holiday help.

Merchants all over the Triangle need to hire seasonal employees before the holiday rush. Many business owners say there are more jobs available than there are people to fill them.

"I tend to be going to senior centers, schools, community centers and following up with people who live in apartments," says Kateri Little of A Southern Season.

Some stores are trying to recruit employees with higher pay. Others are offering employee discounts as an incentive.
