SPIVEY'S CORNER — One person is dead after a collision involving three tractor-trailers on a dark, foggy Sampson County highway Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 6 a.m. along Highway 13, about 7 miles south of Spivey's Corner.
Rescue crews worked for more than an hour to free the dead trucker from the wreckage.
One of the tractor-trailers, a livestock carrier, is on its side. Emergency crews are setting up corrals so they can transfer the cattle to another truck.
Highway patrol troopers are still investigating. The name of the driver killed in the accident and the condition of the two other drivers have not been released.
