Hinton, 22, was present atConn Elementarywhen the crew was counted at 9:30 but was gone at the 9:45 head count, according to Tracy Little, DOC spokesperson.
School officials say law officers searched the school three times and found a glove by a telephone.
Hinton was picked up in downtown Raleigh Wednesday around 12:30 p.m., after calling officers and telling them his location.
Hinton has been returned to the Wake Correctional Center, but authorities say he will be moved to a more secure prison shortly.
Hinton was in jail on misdemeanor larceny charges. He was scheduled to be released in August and would have been eligible for parole in April.
Now, he faces additional charges because of the escape. -->
