<b>FAYETTEVILLE</b> — A former student of the late Thomas Bacote is now his replacement on Cumberland County's Board of Commissioners.

The Cumberland County Democratic Party's executive committee voted Jeannette Council to be the new commissioner. She takes over for Bacote, who died last month.

Council will serve until the next general election in November.  If she wins that election she will finish out the remaining two years of Bacote's term.
