Prisoner Escapes from Butner

BUTNER — An inmate from the federal prison in Butner is on the run.

Prison officials say Billy Williams, 36, escaped Tuesday afternoon. They noticed Williams was gone when he did not show up for an afternoon roll call.

Williams, a white male, is 5'11", weighs 135 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes.

Williams was serving a 15-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
