FAYETTEVILLE — Children love to play, and now they can at a new park in Fayetteville that makes it easier for kids with disabilities to enjoy the fun.
Fayetteville dedicated its first handicapped accessible playground on Thursday.
There are wide ramps for wheelchairs, a special swing, and smooth surfaces to make a trip to the playground fun for everyone.
"One in 10 children with a disability in the United States does not have the opportunity to experience play that most children have come accustomed to," said recreation superintendent Renee Burks. "This gives them that opportunity to come and build their strength with the climbing rock."
The new playground is located at the Dorothy Gilmore Recreation Center on Purdue Drive.
