Suspect Arrested for Murder of Orange County Runaway

Posted Updated

ROXBORO — Person County officials have arrested the man they believe killed a runaway girl from Orange County who was found inside a mobile home in Person County over the weekend.

Detectives say 20-year-old Jesus Vasquez stabbed the 14-year-old girl in the neck and left her partially naked body in a mobile home on Chambers Loot Road.

Timberlake resident Janie McKinney says she had seen the girl hanging out in the neighborhood.

"She was just a young girl, probably a troubled teen, problems at home, there might have been some drugs involved, just looking for someone to love her, someone to care about her, I guess," McKinney says.

The victim has been identified as Genevieve Folmar. She was reported missing from her home a few weeks ago. Detectives do not know how the killer and the victim crossed paths.

They say they are arresting Vasquez and charging him with murder in Randolph County.
