FORT BRAGG — Military Police say a man stopped a woman on the All American Freeway at Fort Bragg Wednesday night and raped her.

Investigators say the man was posing as a plainclothes police officer and had a blue light in or on his car.

The suspect is described as being a six-foot-tall white male with short brown hair, a thin mustache and a scar on the right side of his face.

Officials are urging females, especially those traveling alone in the area, to be careful as the suspect is still at large.

Fayetteville resident Janine Smith uses the All-American Freeway on a regular basis. She says knowing that a police impostor is out there is a little unsettling.

"As soon as I see blue lights, then I'm stopping myself. I'm pulling over to the side of the road," Smith says. "Knowing that there are impostors, it is hard to tell until it is too late."

Anyone with any information that may lead to his capture is asked to call the Fort Bragg CID office at910-396-5536or the Fayetteville Police Department at910-433-1856
