A smoldering cigarette or match sparked the May 12th fire at the off-campus house just hours before graduation. Three students at U.N.C. Chapel Hill survived the fire. Two remain in the hospital.

Those who died in the fire include Joanna Howell of Cary, Ben Woodruff of Raleigh and Josh Weaver, Mark Strickland and Anne Smith ... all from Rocky Mount.
